About Daniel Velasquez
Daniel has a B.A. in Music Education and a B.S. in Computer Science from Gonzaga University. He has taken some graduate level courses in software engineering and music composition.
Daniel is an accomplished guitarist specializing in classical, jazz, and flamenco styles. He also is an accomplished bassist specializing it orchestral, Latin, and jazz styles. He plays both the upright and electric bass. He is a skilled pianist as well.
As a performer, he has toured all over the world as a member of a U.S.O. group that entertained the troops overseas. He has served as the principal double bass in regional orchestras and has performed with the Portland Festival Symphony many times in years past. Additionally, he also has played bass with many Portland area Salsa bands and specializes in Latin musical styles.
In recent years, Daniel shown promise as a music arranger and composer. He tries to take all his musical experiences and apply those lessons to the music that he writes. He arranges and composes music for film and for live performance. He is currently working on many films with Cosmic Tomato Productions. He has also written arrangements for the Oregon National Guard Band.
As an educator for the last 20 years, he has provided instruction in music, computer science, and engineering. He once served as president of the Oregon Computer Science Teachers Association.
As a software engineer, he has written large computer program applications for the property management, Internet banking, and public utility industries. Daniel specializes in requirements gathering and analysis, database design, and rapid application development. He currently codes in the C/C++, C#, and Java programming languages.
